Hungary surprise Germany at home

Hungary won in Germany this Friday night (1-0) during the 5th round of the League of Nations. A victory that brings the Hungarian Final Four team a little closer to the competition.

Hungary continues to surprise. Already at the head of a very strong group with also England and Italy, Marco Rossi’s players won in Germany this Friday (1-0). If the Germans had the ball in the first half, they never really managed to be dangerous, scoring their first shot only in the 39th minute with a header from Thomas Müller, well saved by Peter Gulacsi.

By contrast, their Hungarian opponents were ultra-realists. Captain Adam Szalai opened the scoring with a superb dovetail from a corner, completing the team’s only real chance from him. Hungary then knew how to be solid defensively to counter German attacks.

The Germans are not sharp enough

Returning from the locker room with a new system (3-4-1-2), the Nationalmannschaft players quickly put pressure on the Hungarian goal. Two minutes after Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller thought he was offering his team the equalizer, but finally Jonas Hofmann, the decisive passer in this action, was flagged offside (53rd). On three occasions, Joshua Kimmich also tried it, but when the ball missed the post, it was Adam Lang who saved his team from a header over their line (77th).

Hungary could even have increased the score against at the end of the game, but neither Martin Adam with his left foot (72nd), nor Laszlo Kleinheisler, only against Ter Stegen (86th), managed to double the bet. This victory, however, allows Hungary to play on Monday night against Italy (8:45 p.m.), also the winner at home against england this friday (1-0), decisive match for 1st place in group 3. Then a draw will suffice to qualify for the Nations League Final Four.
